From next year, PG admission in TISS to be based on CUET scores

Until now, the institute held its own National Entrance Test (NET) popularly known as TISSNET for admission to all PG courses.

The Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) announced that admission for the forthcoming academic year 2024-25 for all its postgraduate (PG) programmes will be based on the Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET PG) scores, except two courses – MA in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations (HRM) and MA in Organisation Development, Change and Leadership (ODCL).

Score of the Common Admission Test (CAT) will be considered for these two courses. Until now, the institute held its own National Entrance Test (NET) popularly known as TISSNET for admission to all PG courses. On Tuesday, the prominent social science institute announced the change which has led to worries among aspirants who are complaining that CUET-PG and CAT are no feasible options for admissions to the upcoming academic year. Students have pointed out that registration for CAT is already over and CUET is very different in format, pattern and curriculum to replace TISSNET. One of the aspirants said, “We are not opposing the changes but it should have been announced well in advance so that aspirants can prepare accordingly. For CAT, the registration window has already closed in September and the exam will be held now in a few days.” A few aspirants are contemplating to take a legal course of action as they are likely to miss out on academic year. Even as aspirants still have time for CUET – registration as well as exams — according to students, it is very different in format, thus putting them at disadvantage.
